Poha (Flattened Rice)

 

Poha is a light snack for breakfast .it can be served with tea. There are different name in India. Poha is a good source of carbohydrates that provide energy. It is also high in fiber and rich in protein.

Ingredients:

2 cups “thick” poha

1 cup frozen green peas

2 tablespoon oil

1 teaspoon mustard seeds

1/2 teaspoon turmeric

1 green chili, finely chopped

1 medium-size Onion (chopped)

5-6 curry leaves

1 tsp lime juce

Salt to taste

2 tsp mashed garlic

Lemon slices to garnish

1/4 cup chopped tomato to garnish

coriander leave to garnish

Method

1. Gently wash poha in a colander and let it sit/drain for approx.10 minutes.

2. Wash and drain green peas and set aside

3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium high heat. When oil is moderately hot add mustard seeds and wait till seeds crack. Add mashed garlic

4. Add Onion, green chilli, curry leaves and green pea and fry untill soft.2.Sprinkle turmeric, chili powder and salt and toss with a fork

5. Add the mixed poha, and stir gently, Remove from heat and add lemon juice

6. Garnish with chopped coriander, lemmon slice and chopped  tomato.

My elder brother always like my hand made poha. He always miss my poha.

It is very easy and quick recipe.
