Paneer Tikka Mashala

Paneer Tikka can be served without the gravy as barbeque snacks. Sprinkle some chaat masala on it and serve with green chutney. Paneer tikka masala is an all time favorite gravy dish that goes well with Indian rotis or rice.


250 gm cottage cheese (paneer)

100 gm cream (malai)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon tandoori masala

1 teaspoon tsp chat masala

1 tablespoon minced ginger

1 tablespoon oil

2 tablespoon all propose flour

2 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon methi powder

Salt as taste

For Gravy:

2 green chili, chopped

3 tablespoon chopped coriander

3 medium size tomatoes

1 teaspoon garlic paste

1 onion finely chopped

2 teaspoon tandoori masala

1 tablespoons oil

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 tablespoon coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika (dagi or Kashmir mirch)

1/4 teaspoon turmeric

2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro



Slice the paneer in about 1/8 inch thick and about in one inch squares. Mix together lemon juice, ginger, garlic, chat masala, coriander powder, chili powder, tandoori masala and paneer in a bowl .  Cover and leave to marinate for an hour.

Blend tomatoes and green chilies to make a puree and keep aside.Dissolve the flour and creem(malai), creak that there will not be lumps.

Then add paneer, and mix well till all the pieces are covered with the marination sauce. When ready, preheat the oven or the grill. In the meantime, arrange the marinated paneer on a skewer.

Cook over charcoal or in the oven until some brown spot appear. Do not overcook.

You can eat as snack these paneer adding some chat mashala and methi powder.

For the Gravy:

Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds. Add the onions and garlic and saute for 3-4 minutes.

Add the tomato puree, coriander powder, turmeric, red chili powder and cook for about 4 minutes on medium heat. Add the tandoori masala, salt and cream mix well. Add the grilled paneer in the tomato gravy and let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes on low medium heat. Turn off the heat. Add cilantro, tandoori masala and garam masala stir slowly and cover the pan for few minutes. Serve hot with your choice of Indian bread or over the rice.

Paneer tikka mashala are cooked in tandur or open tandur, it’ taste is nice and delicious but you can grill it in oven.
