PALAK PANEER is one of most eaten dish in India. Palak Paneer is a delicious, hearty North Indian dish prepared with spinach and Indian cheese.

This is a traditional greens based vegetarian dish.


500 gms Fresh Palak (Saag)

100 gms Paneer

3 medium sized onions (finely chopped)

2 medium size tomatoes (finely chopped)

2 green chillies (slit into half)

½ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chilli powder

½ ginger paste

½ garlic paste

1 tsp cumin seeds

3 tablespoons Oil

Salt to taste

4 tablespoons Fresh cream

1 tsp Garam masala

How to make Palak Paneer:

Remove stems, wash spinach thoroughly in running water.

Blanch in salted boiling water for two minutes. Refresh in chilled water. Squeeze out excess water. Remove stems, wash and roughly chop green chillies.

Grind spinach into a fine paste along with green chillies .

Dice paneer into one inch by one inch by half inch pieces.

Heat the oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds. When they begin to change color, Add ginger-garlic paste and stir-fry for a minute. Now add onions and fry till golden brown. Add all spices except red chili powder.

Add the palak paste to this mixture along with 1 cup water. Add salt to taste.

Check seasoning. Add water if required. When the gravy comes to a boil, add the paneer and mix well.

Finally add garam mashala and garnish with fresh cream. Serve hot with roti or naan.
