Mirch Pakoda

Mirch Pakoda is a delicious snack for those of you who enjoy the heat of green chillies. It is perfect when teamed with a cup of masala chai (tea) on a cold day. It is one of mouth watering street food of India. It can be served as a side dish with dals, curd curry or any vegetable curry.


Green chilies large – 15Stuffed Mirch Pakora

For the stuffing:

1 tbsp roasted besan
Chaat masala 3 tbsp
Roasted cumin powder 1 tsp
Red chilli powder 3 teaspoons
1tbsp oil
Salt to taste

For the batter:mirchi

Sieve gram flour 200 gm.
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp garam masala
Mitha Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate) ½ tbsp
Oil to deep fry
Salt to taste
Some water


Slit green chilies. Remove seeds and keep aside. Combine the stuffing ingredients together to form a thick mixture using water. Mix gram flour and batter ingredients in a bowl. Pour in the water gradually and beat to a smooth and thick paste. The consistency should be like thick pancake batter.

Heat the oil in a deep oak. Deep the stuffed chillies into the batter and fry them on medium-high heat until golden brown and crispy.

Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle little chat masala on top and serve hot with tangy tomato sauce.
