Most of the people who eat non-veg, they love sea foods and there are many delicacies sea food recipes for them. This Konkani Shrimp Pickle yesterday especially for my husband who loves prawns. In Konkani Recipes its name is SungTa kholu.
Though this item does not taste like pickle, it is sour, salty and spicy tastes. This is also extremely easy to make.
Cleaned prawns – 1 cup
Finely Chopped Onions 1 cup
Chopped Garlic – about 6-7 cloves
Ginger – 1 inch, thinly chopped
Red chili powder 1/2 teaspoon
Kokum pieces 2-3
Curry leaves – 4
Oil 2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves 2 tablespoon
Wash the shrimp and keep aside. Soak kokum in water and prepare extract. Heat oil in a frying pan and add the onion pieces and green chilies. Fry for a few minutes on a low flame.[
Add curry leaves, ginger and garlic and fry well. Add the prawns to the kadhai, fry till color changes and the shrimp are boiled. Now add turmeric powder, chili powder, kokum water, and salt and mix well and cook till done. Cook till the shrimps are completely done. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice and dal.
Tips: This should not be very watery. So add only little water if required to adjust the consistency.
