Khoya Peda

Pedas are like soft milk fudge. Pedas are grainy texture made with milk and sugar, flavored with cardamom. Peda can be served as prasad during Janmastami festival. This Peda recipes from my grand father’s sweet store, because my grand father’s Peda is so famous in our area. How to make it in traditional way is given below:


4 cups milk

1 cup sugar

1 tsp Cardamom powder

1 tbs Ghee

1 tbs sliced pistachios


Heat the milk in a large kadhai on a medium low heat stirring continuously. Stir the milk continuously, otherwise the milk will burn and it will smell bad.

When the milk is reduced to one cup .Then add the sugar. Keep mixing and mixing. When it starts leaving edges and looks quite dry, remove it from heat.

Again stir the khoya continuously. So that the khoya is cool down easily. Add cardamom powder, greasing your hand with ghee knead the khoya, so it will be smooth.

Divide the khoya into equal parts and give a shape. Garnish the khoya pedas with sliced pistachios.
