Kaju Katli



Rakhi is basically a sacred thread of protection embellished with the love and affection of a sister for her brother. This day is also known as Raksha Bandhan and celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana in India. On this day, sisters pray for long life of their brothers and ask God to bless them with his blessings. Brothers, in turn, give them enticing rakhi gifts and promise to care life long.

Kaju Katli

Kaju Katli is the one of the   most popular sweet in Raksha bundhan occesun.During  Raksha bundhan  there are different type of sweets available in sweets shop, just as Kaju katli, Kesharia Peda, Gujias, Bundi Laddu, Mal Pua, Ghevar  etc.


100 gms Cashew nuts                                     

100 gms Sugar

1/2 Cardamom Powder

Silver Foil (optional)

1 tbsp Ghee


Soak cashew nuts in water for about half an hour. Make a paste of soaked cashew nuts in a grinder. Now in a kadhai or saucepan make syrup with sugar and water . Add kaju  paste to it. Stir properly and cook on slow to medium heat.  Cook stirring continuously till a soft lump is formed. Add ghee and cardamom powder and mix well turn off the flame. Aloow   to cool. Transfer the mixture on a greased plate and roll it to a 1/8 inch thickness. Press silver foil over it. After  10 minutes  cut it into diamond    shaped   pieces.  Kaju Katli is ready to serve. You can cut it in square or diamond shape.
