Gulgula(Indian Donut)

Gulgula is a popular sweet dessert of Uttarakhand, Orissa made from wheat flour and jiggery or sugar syrup Northern India. Gulgulla is one of the major attractions for the tourist and is made with the simplest ingredients found in any Indian kitchen. It tastes yummy when served with yellow mutter curry.

Ingredients Of Gulgula:

Wheat Flour 100 gm

Jiggery 200 gm

Fennel seeds   1 teaspoon

Baking Powder 1 tsp

Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp

Salt 1 pinch

Water as required

Oil to fry

Method:

Mix whole-wheat flour, salt, sugar, fennel seeds, baking powder, elachi powder and two teaspoon oil.

Add water slowly as required to make the thick consistency batter.

Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying the gulgulas. Make lemon size balls from the batter by using your palm and Put one by one to the hot oil.

Fry the gulgulas in the medium flame til they are crisp and golden brown.

Remove the gulgulas and place over a paper towel so the excess oil is absorbed.

Serve hot with guguni (Yellow mutter curry).
